The Video Shoppe Main menu is always displayed when you first start Video Shoppe.

 

Select options on the Main Menu using your mouse to choose the  desired option, then click on that option.

 

Icons are used for commonly used menu items. You will find many more options by clicking on the words in the menu (above the icons). Below is a summary of the icons shown on the main screen.

 

Read General Help, Read Me First, and Getting Started if this is the first time you've used the program.

 

mm_icon_rent POS Screen

 

Click on the icon or press ENTER from the main screen to choose the Point Of Sale (POS) screen.

 

At the POS screen you will rent, sell, reserve movies, and other cash register type functions.

 

Most of the time you spend with Video Shoppe will be in the Point of Sale screen. Make sure you read the Chapter on POS carefully.

 

 

mm_icon_inv Inventory Maintenance

 

This selection displays an Inventory browse screen from which you may add, modify, delete and view inventory items. All inventory items, whether they be sales, rentals, coupons, memberships, etc., will all show from this screen.

 

Items may be entered by name or number, they can be rental, or sales items.

 

 

mm_icon_rentinv Rental Inventory Only

 

By selecting this icon, you will only be able to view, add, edit, and delete rental inventory. You may also transfer rental inventory to sales inventory.

 

 

mm_icon_salestinv Sales Inventory Only

 

Selecting this icon will let you view, add, edit, and delete sales inventory only. You may also transfer a sales item to a rental item from this screen.

 

 

mm_icon_cust Customer Maintenance

 

Use this option to add, modify, delete, and view customer information. Family members can be added from Customer Maintenance, or from the POS screen.

 

 

mm_icon_clerk Change Clerk

 

Clicking on this icon will allow you to change clerks. This is also a good idea to click here if you want to walk away from the computer, as you have to sign back in (assuming you have clerks set up).

 

 

mm_icon_eodEnd of Day Functions

 

Selecting this icon will let you reconcile your cash drawer, print cash reports, tax reports, due lists, late lists, and more. This should be done at the end of each day or each shift, whether or not you have an actual cash drawer.

 

 

mm_icon_barcode Barcode Printing

 

This icon runs the inventory utility. From here you may select inventory, then print barcodes, cases, jackets, and more. You may also create barcode labels that are not yet in inventory.

 

 

mm_icon_graph Graphing Program

 

Used to chart the performance of your titles.

 

 

mm_icon_reports Reports

 

This runs the standard reports. These reports are 'canned' reports. You may not change them. This section prints or allows viewing of various financial, customer, and inventory reports. It includes an option for form letters and labels.

 

There are 2 more report sections accessed from the menu selections, report manager, and report layout manager. You can modify those reports.

 

 

mm_icon_utility Inventory Utility

 

This runs the inventory utility program. This program lets you select inventory by different methods, then massively change the selected inventory. You may also use the barcode printing utility built in. There are 2 barcode label printing programs. The newest one is called dynalabels, which allows you to create labels, or print labels from your inventory. This is also used in conjunction with the Vidport import/export program.

This Icon takes you to the VMT Web site for our Customers. Here is where you will find the latest changes and additions to the software, as well as tips and tricks.

Clicking on this icon brings up this help file. Press F1 or click on help anywhere in the program to get context sensitive help.

 

mm_icon_exit Exit Program

 

This is the correct way to exit Video Shoppe. From here you should go to the Start Menu in Windows, under All programs, Video, run the 'Backup your files' program.
