Tanning

The tanning option in Video Shoppe allows stores that have tanning booths to use their program with only one customer base, and allow the customer to tan, rent, or both.

As with anything that is purchased, you must have an inventory item to process. There are two things that you will process for tans, a tanning package, or a bed.

There are 3 kinds of tanning packages: minutes, sessions, or time memberships. We will discuss these in detail later in this chapter.

A bed is what you rent time on. When a customer comes in to tan, you will always rent them the tanning bed they will use. The tanning bed is either paid for right away (with money), or it is paid for using one of the tanning packages that you sold to the customer earlier.

So, to summarize, when a customer first comes in the store, you will probably sell them some kind of a package, minutes, sessions, or a membership.

AFTER you complete the transaction, you will rent them a bed, and it will deduct the amount of minutes or sessions from whatever they have on their account.

If they have a membership (like a 30 day membership), it will not deduct anything, but will not charge them for the tan. If they have some sessions coming, it will deduct the one session, and not charge them anything. If they have minutes coming, it will deduct the minutes, and not charge them anything. If they don't have quite enough minutes, it will charge for extra minutes.

If they don't have a package, the program will charge them for the number of minutes they are to tan, or for the session, depending on how you have it setup in the bed pricing.
