Dot Matrix printers

Dot matrix printers have their good and bad side. They are cheap to operate compared to other

types of printers and most are very durable.  When we print to most dot matrix printers we

bypass the Windows print drivers and printer directly to the printer. If a Windows print driver

is used then you must have the Windows print spool turned off for it to work without errors.

The dot matrix printers are noisy and slow if they are the less expensive type. Invoices for

dot matrix printers are 0 though 7 in Company Setup.

There is a special type of printer, the 40 column invoice printer that has become more popular.

Invoices for these are 12,17 and 32. The number 32 is a new invoice that works with Windows

printer drivers. This is available with version 75d and up.

Ink Jet and Laser printers

Ink jet and Laser printers are necessary for reports and can be used for invoices. They are

less noisy and some are fast depending on the printer. The ink or toner can be expensive

so they  can cost more to operate. Invoices for these printers are 14, 15 and 20 in Company

Setup. If you use 20 you can pick from several types in the Report Layout Manager.
