Ask for Clerk ID Each Rental
This causes the program to ask the clerk name during each transaction. In order for this to work you must have clerk names set up in the Password area of Store Maintenance.
Count back days for special late charges
This should be set to 7 to start with. If you use the price matrix to alter a late charge for a certain day and want the program to look back on a late return and charge this special amount then enter how far back you want that special price to apply. Normally the program simply multiplies by the number of days late, but in this case it must query the price matrix for every day of the week, up to this number of days. This can be quite time consuming, so you might want to limit this to one or two weeks.
Early return credit
Early return credits will automatically apply to the customers next rentals. So if they have $1 in early return credit, and the next movie is $3, it will automatically adjust to $2.
Rent Manually
The best way to take advantage of your software is to have it automatically bring in your price
information. If you have a special that can not be handled in any other way, the program can be set to manual mode so you can enter the days and price manually. This has security so you can have only certain clerks do this. Manual mode can be turned on at the rental screen if you only use it once in a while.
Open Cash Drawer
If you use a electronic cash drawer with your computer you need to enter a number to open it, normally 255. Then you need to tell the software what (RS 232) serial port it is on. By leaving the Serial port as 0, the cash drawer function will not work. Some cash drawers are hooked up to the printer. In that case, it is up to the printer driver to open the cash drawer.
Batch file to open drawer
If the cash drawer still does not open, your cash drawer company can have you write a small
batch file to open it. Then you can put the batch file in the vmtvid folder and tell the program
what the name of the file is. We have some programs that may open the cash drawer. Call if you can't get it to work.
