Rental Screen 2 ( Point of Sale )

After the customer has been chosen the screen changes to look like the screen above.

This screen is designed to give you all the information you need about a customer. ID#, name, address, date of birth, phone numbers, credit information, free movies, late charges, movies to rent before a free movie is given and status.

If status has anything typed in it, it blinks to bring attention to it. Entering DO NOT RENT in the customer status will prevent renting to this customer. Entering BAD CHECK in the status area will prevent taking a check as a method of payment. To rent a movie, type in the movie number and press ENTER, or scan in the movie number. After the movies are on the screen just press ENTER without typing a movie number. Pick the payment type, enter the money and the program will print a invoice and be ready to rent to the next customer.

Options From This Screen

F2 - Menu

Pressing F2 displays a menu with the options available from this screen. This will help you use the program without referring to the manual.

F3 - Family

This option allows you to change to a family member other than the main family member. You can search for other family members or add new family members using this option. Family members can be restricted to renting certain movies according to ratings.

F7 - Return All

When a customer is brought into this screen the rentals that customer has out are displayed. You can return ALL of the movies by pressing the F7 key. (More on next page)

F8 - History

F8 pops up a history of this customer, which can be printed. The history window shows when a movie was rented, when it was due back and if it was returned late.

F9 - Edit/Return ( Make a Movie Free)

F9 returns movies from this screen one at a time. Press F9 and use the arrow keys to select the movie you want to return. Now a key can be pressed to return the movie. You can remove a movie (so as not to rent it) if the customer changes their mind, with this key. F9 can be used to make one of the movies on the rental screen a free movie. This is used for a rent two, get one free special when the free movie is normally the cheapest one they are renting. This type of special can be handled automatically in the company setup if it does not matter if the first two movies are new or regular movie types. ( Free Key is not in Video 2000 )

F10 - Coupons

F10 pops up a window with your coupons (punch cards, gift certificates, etc.) From this table you select the item you want to sell and press ENTER.

ALT-S (Show Memo) - All Options using ALT keys can be used from the menu, press F2

Pressing ALT-S brings a pop up memo (two lines, 120 characters) on the screen. Lost keys, bad checks, VCR eats movies, sign a new card, are examples of possible memo's. Memo's can be edited by pressing ALT-E. An option can be turned on so the memo will be displayed automatically if there is anything in it.

ALT-C (Edit Customer)

Pressing ALT-C allows editing of customer information, change of address, new phone number, etc. Certain information is password protected to prevent clerks from editing.

ALT-L (Lookup Mode)

ALT-L toggles a special lookup mode that displays a table with movie name, location, IN or OUT status and more. This option can be toggled on or off from the Point of Sale Screen.

ALT-R (Reserve Movies)

Pressing ALT-R allows you to reserve movies by item ID number. This is different than placing customers in a waiting list because an actual movie number is reserved for this customer.

ALT-X (Transfer Reserved Movies)

Allows you to transfer all reserved movies into the rental screen. An option can be turned on to notify you if a customer has movies on reserve.

ALT-M (Manual Mode)

Pressing ALT-M toggles from automatic rental to manual rental mode. Even though many types of specials are done automatically there is no way it can handle every possible special. By turning the rental mode to manual any special can be workable. The manual mode lets you enter the number of days rented, and the rental price, overriding the standard price. Video Shoppe has many more automatic specials than Video 2000. Should your store use these for promotional purposes, Video Shoppe will be a better choice.

CTRL & F1

Pressing the Control key and the F1 key at the same time allows you to take movies on the rental screen and give them a package price and, or number of rental days. This option is good for renting 5 movies for 5 dollars for five days, for instance.
