First, I want to thank Curt for the last
newsletter explaining how to save money by buying at
Wal-Mart and other idea's he had for video stores.

Jason responds:
Thanks for this info, I have actually been getting most of
my videos and some of these products from Walmart as well,
just wasn't aware that i could get it all tax exempt.
Thanks guys!

David Responds:
BEING WITH RENT TRACK I WAS LIMITED WITH WHAT I COULD BUY
FROM WALMART. OUR WAL MART OPENED LAST YEAR AND I STARTED TO
BUY SOME TITLES FROM THEM. I'M DROPPING MY CONTRACT WITH
RENT TRACK AS THEY COME DUE AND PURCHASING FROM WALMART. AS
LONG AS THE PACKAGE IS NOT OPENED, IT CAN BE RETURNED, SO
YOU ALWAYS HAVE ENOUGH COPIES TO RENT WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT
OVER STOCK.

----------------------------
This week I want to talk about the program and programmers
for a minute.
I had a long discussion with a long time client of ours,
Paula, who was telling me about her software troubles before
she switched to Video Shoppe, and what has happened since
she switched.
Basically the old program she had was a DOS program and if
she would press the wrong button at the wrong time, the
clerk would find themselves in a bit of a mess with the
program.
Paula said that when she switched to our software, she
figured she'd have the same problem, so they were very very
careful about not pressing buttons if they didn't know what
they were.
As time went on, they found that certain buttons would save
them several steps. Paula told the clerks if they found a
button that saved time, to call the other store and let them
know about the feature they found.
They're still discovering new features...
Well this is my fault (Ray - Programmer). Sometimes I start
working on the program and I'll be in a certain area of the
program when I discover I can make a certain function
quicker and/or easier.
The problem with programmers is and always will be
documentation. I'm getting better at it, but I will probably
always forget to put these little things in the book/help
files/web site.
So, when you're working the program and you discover an
undocumented feature, please email me and let me know. I
will make a list and get it documented so I can share it
with everyone.
Thanks for reading this letter. And if you have something
you want to share with folks in the video industry, please
email me.

P.S.
The web site is not quite done, but we're getting ready to
release our Contact Manager called Prospector to the world.
It actually interfaces with Video Shoppe and we use it here
everyday. Have I mentioned that we now use Video Shoppe as
our Point of Sale here at VMT?
You can get a sneak preview of the website, and even sign up
for the Prospector letters on the website.

Check it out and let me know what you think. I appreciate
your opinion.
